International student applicants must apply with the university for all subjects. The application procedure is determined by your nationality and the study programme you wish to apply for.
The general application deadline for all application procedures at Heidelberg University is 1 June - 15 July for the winter semester; 1 December - 15 January for the summer semester.

Admission Requirements
Admission requirements for Heidelberg University’s undergraduate study programmes are a higher-education entrance qualification as well as very good German-language knowledge. Additional qualifications may be required for individual study programmes.
If your higher-education entrance qualification is not fully equivalent to the German “Abitur”, you will be required to pass an assessment test (called “Feststellungsprüfung”) before you can begin your studies at Heidelberg University. The university’s “Studienkolleg” offers preparatory courses for this test.

Enrolment/Matriculation
Students who have been admitted for study must enrol in person at the International Relations Office by the deadline specified in the acceptance notification. All certificates required for admission (school certificates and university documents) must be submitted in the original at that time
Matriculation requires successful completion of the testing procedure described in the acceptance notification.Unless otherwise stipulated by law, the test is mandatory.
If the applicant does not pass the German language test for admission to universities (DSH) or the acceptance test for the Heidelberg University preparatory course, or scores below the requirement specified in the admission regulations, matriculation into the course of study indicated in the acceptance notification will not be possible.
